Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit Installation - 2022 Jeep Cherokee- Video

Hello neighbors. It's Brad here at etrailer and today we're taking a look at installing the Roadmaster charge line kit on a 2022 Jeep Cherokee. Now your charge line is just an added feature that you can add on. It's not required, but if you flat towed a vehicle before and it needs to be in the accessory mode for tow mode once you get to your destination, many times, your vehicle is gonna be dead because it is drawing that power as it's being towed. So, a way to fix that and not have to charge your vehicle at the campsite is running that charge line. It's just gonna take the 12 volt source from the RV, go into your six pole, and then go to a circuit breaker to protect the vehicle from any backfeed, and then just go to your battery. more

Hey, everybody, how's it going Today, we're gonna be going over and showing you how to install the Demco battery charge line here on our 2021 Jeep Cherokee. So this particular battery charge line is gonna be for the towed vehicle. Most of your motor homes or your towing vehicles are gonna come with one, so you don't have to worry about wiring anything up on there. So essentially what this does is this is gonna be a lead that connects from the vehicle's battery here, and it's gonna be ran to the trailer connector, most likely a six-way trailer connector. Those are certainly the most common. You will need one that's gonna allow for that extra pin, so four ways are out the window, only seven and six ways. more

So if you're asking yourself why you would need a battery charge line, it's because while our vehicle is in tow mode our battery does drain a little bit. No matter if it's off or accessory, whatever position we need to have the key in there's still going to be some slight drain from some of the components on the vehicle. Therefore, in order to prevent a dead battery when we arrive to the campsite, we can charge the towed vehicle's battery here with our motorhome along our trip.So here's what our battery charge line kit basically consists of, which is a circuit breaker here, and then we're going to have a wire that comes around here. Today on our 2019 Jeep Cherokee, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Demco second vehicle kit for Air Force One supplemental braking systems. There's going to be five main components needed to flat tow your Jeep Cherokee down the road, they're going to include your base plate, your tow bar, your braking system, your tow bar wiring, and your safety cables. Your base plate is going to attach your Jeep's frame and give us a really solid and reliable connection point to hook our tow bar up to.The tow bar is going to be that link that goes from your base plate to the back of the motor home and allows your vehicle to pivot behind your motor home as you're going down the road. Your braking system is going to apply the brakes in your Jeep, whenever you hit the brakes in your motor home to help bring everything to a safe, complete stop. Your tow bar wiring is going to connect to the back of your motor home, to the front of your Jeep and that's going to help provide the appropriate lighting signals on the back of your Jeep, that way other motorists will know what your intentions are as you're going down the road.And lastly, your safety cables are going to connect to the back of your motor home, again to the front of the Jeep, and they're going to be a secondary attachment device in case of the event of a catastrophic disconnect, these cables are going to keep your Jeep connected to the back of your motor home. more

Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit Installation - 2014 Jeep Cherokee- Video

Rob: Rob here at etrailer.com, and today you're going to be taking a look at the Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for Towed Vehicles on our 2014 Jeep Cherokee.Now, whenever you're flat-towing your jeep behind your motor home, the whole purpose of taking it is so that once we get to the campgrounds, we can take our car out, go to dinner, run to the gas station. It's just a lot easier to drive our Cherokee around rather than driving our motor home.But part of the problem comes into play whenever we're flat-towing our Cherokee. If we do a long extended period of time, the battery can drain, whether that's because of the braking system or any other components that may stay on, but our charge line is going to make sure that when we get to our destination, we can jump in our Cherokee and not have to worry about finding somebody to jump our car.And the way our charge line kit is going to work is, it's going to take the 12-volt power source from the back of our seven way in our motor home, send it through our umbilical cord to the six way or whatever plug we have on the front of our jeep. Now, on the inside of here, on one of the pins, we have our charge line, just a wire going up to a breaker that's going to be hooked to the battery. And that breaker is going to make sure that it doesn't overcharge our battery, because it's only going to provide 15 amps while we're hooked up.One thing to keep in mind about the charge line kit is you are going to need that 12-volt power source at the seven way at the back of your motor home. Roadmaster Tow Bar 7-Wire to 6-Wire Coiled-to-Straight Cord Installation - 2018 Jeep Cherokee- Video

-Today, in our 2018 Jeep Cherokee, we're gonna take a look at the Roadmaster 7-wire to 6-wire coiled to straight cord for Roadmaster tow bars.Whenever you're flat-towing your vehicle, you need to have the lights transfer from your motorhome to your towed vehicle. Now, we need to get a way to transfer all those signals. Possibly a power source going to charge our battery.Well, that's where our Roadmaster cable's gonna take care all of those problems for us. Now, this is gonna be specifically made for a replacement for Roadmaster tow bars. However, it is gonna work with any tow bar and any towed vehicle.It's gonna be a hybrid style cable, which means we're gonna have a coiled sections that's gonna be close to the motorhome and then it'll turn into a a straight cable that'll go all the way until we plug it into our towed vehicle. The straight end of the cable's gonna be great for tow bars that have that channel guide in them so we can keep everything looking nice and keep all that extra slack from dragging on the ground.Now, our cable's gonna have a silicone injected 7-way on the motorhome side, that way we can prevent any kind of corrosion from building up inside that plug.Now, on the other end, on the towed vehicle side, we're gonna have a 6-way connector. more

Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit Installation - 2019 Jeep Cherokee- Video

Speaker 1: Today on this 2019 Jeep Cherokee we'll be having a look at and showing you how to install the Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for Towed Vehicles, Part Number RM-156-25. It's a very simple kit to install. Once you find the location to mount your breaker, you'll have one wire which will go to the positive terminal of your battery and then another wire which will go to your six-way connector at the front of your vehicle, and that will receive power from the motorhome and send it through the breaker and then to your battery to maintain the charge in it as you're driving.Now it's a great idea while you have your fascia off to go ahead and add your charge line wire as you're hooking up your diodes for your wiring for your electrical connections. So we'll take the red wire that comes with our charge line kit and we'll strip off the insulation from one end, and we're going to hook this up to our auxiliary terminal. This is where it gets charged, and that is the center terminal here marked A. So we'll loosen that set screw and insert the wire in the red terminal inside the screw-down.Now I'll take some dielectric grease which we have available on our website and flood the back side of our connector. more

This is what our Tow Defender looks like when it's installed. What this thing is going to do, it's going to protect our vehicle while it's being towed from any dirt, debris, or anything else, that may be kicked up by our RV while we're traveling. It's going to be made out of a nylon mesh netting. It's going to allow air to flow through to keep it from bouncing up and down as we're going down the road. We're just gonna have one breaker that we're gonna have to install, and that's gonna make sure that it just provides the 15 amps to the battery to prevent overcharging. Along with this we'll be using Roadmaster's seven wire to six wire straight cord, part number RM-98146-7.This diode kit is going to allow your RV to send its brake, turn, and tail lamp signals to the lights on your vehicle. This will allow vehicle behind you to know what you're about to do, and it will keep you in compliance with local laws.Here we are in our RV, and all of our signaling devices are going to activate back on our vehicle. It activates our left turn on both the RV and on our vehicle. The same happens with our right turn, our brake lamps, and our tail lamps.Along with this diode kit, it's going to come with a six pole connector, and a cable that goes from six pole to seven pole so you can hook it to your RV. more

Part Number is RM-156-25.Now the vehicle charge line kit has a breaker in line, so as the power is coming back from our RV and running through, if our vehicle has a large demand or if it's drawing a lot of power through the wire, the breakers gonna separate. It's not gonna allow it to over do it. This just basically gives us a 12 volt power source that comes from our coach to our battery, allowing for it to be charged as we're traveling down the road. Roadmaster Car Side Tow Bar Quick Disconnects Installation - 2017 Jeep Cherokee- Video

Today on our 2017 Jeep Cherokee we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Roadmaster Tow Bar Quick Disconnects, and this is going to be for the car side only. That's going to be part number RM-222. So here's what are Quick Disconnects looks like, and it's going to allow us to hook up to our tow bar, and also at the same time still be able to utilize are removable arms on our base plates. Now the way these are going to work is we're going to have the tow bar base, now this part's not included in our kit, but we do have several options available on our website. It's going to slide into place, and we're going to be able to hook our tow bar up here. To make sure everything's secure we'll put our pins in place, now we'll be ready to hook up our tow bar. This is going to be much easier and much less time consuming for one person. So whether you're looking for a Quick Disconnects system or you need a replacement for your existing system this kit right here's going to be a great option to make your connections a lot easier and faster. Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit Installation - 2016 Jeep Cherokee- Video

Today on our 2016 Jeep Cherokee we'll be installing the Roadmaster battery charge line kit for towed vehicles, part number RM-156-25. To begin our installation we'll be at the front of our vehicle where our six pole round connector is. That's the umbilical between our towed vehicle, our Cherokee here today, and our RV. I'll remove this real quick so you have access to all the wiring. We'll just pull it down here. We'll be using the middle terminal right here because on a seven to six wire cable the middle terminal on the plug is the charge line coming from the RV. We'll take our red wire that comes with our charge line kit, strip off some insulation, and then we want to loosen the set screw for our middle terminal here, stick our wire down inside there, and tighten the screw back up. With that secure I'll pull back on it and make sure it's really secure, take the other end of our red wire and we'll slide it through our sleeve here, reinstall the sleeve over it. One thing I like to do is put our wire inside some wire loom. more

Today in our 2015 Jeep Cherokee, we're going to be taking a look at installing the Roadmaster seven-wire to six-wire Flexo-Coil kit, part number RM-146-7.Here's what it looks like once it's installed. It's going to make hooking up to your trailer very easily. This is going to be installed at all times, and the only time it's going to be active is when you plug in to your RV. It does come with a seven to six-way adapter. So if your RV has a seven-pole connector and your vehicle is going to use a six, this'll swap it over so you can use it that way. It'll just snap into position. more

Blue Ox Towing Accessories Kit Installation - 2014 Jeep Cherokee- Video

Today on our 2014 Jeep Cherokee we'll be installing the Blue Ox Towing Accessory Kit for Aventa LX Tow Bars, part number BX88231. Now when you first start out you want to make sure that you do a series of S turns to make sure that the tow bar arms are fully extended and lock into position. Now we'll go ahead and route our 4-flat wiring to the rear of the vehicle. When routing your wire you want to make sure you stay away from any areas that may become hot, have moving parts, or have sharp edges as all of these could easily damage the wire. Now we're going to go ahead and use an old section of air line tubing to help us route our wire to the rear of the vehicle. We'll go ahead and tape our wire here to our air line tubing to help us pull it underneath the skid plate. more
